Mansfield based Counselling & Therapy

I have a creative approach to counselling, in the sense that I can tailor your sessions to your needs.

I aim to provide a safe space where individuals can feel heard, understood, valued and respected. Under these conditions, clients can start to explore and understand themselves better, which in turn provides insights into how they might make positive changes in their lives.

Christian Counselling

Though I am not trained in Christian Counselling, I am a Christian and a trained counsellor. Let me know if you’d like me to pray with you. Prayer really does work!

I aim to listen and understand, in a non judgemental way, what your struggles are and help you find a way forward to achieving more hope and peace in your life. I am happy to see anyone of any faith or no faith and respect other values and beliefs.

School Package

I have a background in primary teaching as well as counselling and can offer therapy sessions to children in schools. I can also provide basic mental health education in a fun way, to primary school children within assemblies, circle time or classes.

I have an up-to-date DBS Certificate. Please contact me to discuss reduced rates for schools and the needs of the children whom you think need therapy.

Children and young people

I offer play based and art based therapy for children and young people. For example, I use sand therapy, puppets, games, painting, clay and drawing to help children express themselves; when they find it difficult to put their thoughts and feelings into words.

I have experience of counselling children and young people on the autistic spectrum and/or with ADHD and can tailor counselling sessions to help them express themselves.

Parental Guidance

I do an initial assessment and regular reviews with parents or carers too. I can offer parenting advice about managing behaviour, anger and anxiety if needed.

I understand that being a parent isn’t easy and children do not come with an instruction manual. Each child and family are different and face different struggles and issues. Please come for an assessment with me, knowing that I am non judgemental and will help you explore the difficulties and find a way forward.

Qualifications and Experience

Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy

DBS certification

Trained with Place2Be in 2004-5.

Was a primary school teacher for 15 years

Pricing

I charge £40 for an hour.

Clients will need weekly sessions that I will endeavour to make at the same time each week. In my experience, depending on their needs, most clients feel that 9 or 10 weekly sessions is really helpful and enough to effect change.

This might give you some idea of the cost involved. I will regularly review with clients, how they feel things are going, to ensure that they are happy with the process and will refer on to another professional if we both felt that it wasn’t working.
