Helplines

Need help?

Here's some free advice

I am happy to offer an initial, brief telephone conversation, to help you find the right support for you or your child/young person. It isn’t always easy to find the right help when you’re negotiating the different services and therapists out there.

In the meantime why not think about helping yourself or your child or young person, with some free advice? Our mental health is just as important as our physical health.

Consider one or more of the following to help you on the road to better mental health, feeling less stressed and more calm:

  • Meditate for a few minutes each day
  • Learn to deep breathe for a few minutes each day
  • Reconnect with nature
  • Take up yoga or Pilates
  • Read up on and take up mindfulness eg mindful walking, colouring etc
  • Talk about your problems with someone you trust and ask them to help you problem solve. A problem shared is a problem halved.
  • Take up a new hobby
  • Volunteer - helping others promotes our own well being
  • Get plenty of sleep, rest and exercise
  • Keep yourself technology free for at least an hour before you go to bed
  • Eat and drink more healthily
  • Keep a diary
  • Write a poem(s) about how you feel
  • Make playlists of happy and/or calming music
  • ‘Lose yourself’ in a good book
  • Make a book/box of reminders - what I can do when I’m feeling sad/ anxious etc
